TSE Recipes: Dahi Phulki

What You Need: 

Phulkian
1 cup
Yogurt [whipped]
2 cups
Milk
1 to 1½ cup(s)
Tomatoes
1 [large], cut into tiny cubes
Potato
2 [medium, boiled] cut into cubes
Onion
1 [medium] chopped into small pieces
Coriander
For garnish [you can also add it to the mix if you prefer]
Chaat Masala
1½  tsp [you can use store-bought / home-made]
Dahi Baray Masala
This is optional. I use the store-bought masala. Approx. 1 tsp
Salt
½ tsp [or as preference]
Salad Leaves
Cut up into strips or chopped like onion based on preference
Zeera [roasted]
1 to 1½ tsp
Water
4 cups


Method: 

1. Add the phulkian to the water and let soak for a min. of 30 minutes. In case of winters, the water should be warm otherwise soak for longer, approximately 1 hour. 

2. If you don't have whipped yogurt, no worries! 

Add milk to the yogurt and mix with a whisk [you can also do it with an electric mixer if you prefer]. Then add salt, as well as half portion of the chaat masala, Dahi Baray masala, and roasted zeera [lightly crushed]. Whisk again. 

3. Put the yogurt mixture in the refrigerator till you need to serve.

4. Cut up the tomatoes, boiled potatoes, coriander, onions, salad leaves, and cucumber(s) [this is entirely optional if you want to give your dahi phulki's a refreshing twist]

Then comes the last minute Preparation: 

5. Five minutes before you need to serve, add your vegetable portion to the refrigerated yogurt mixture. 

6. Strain the phulkis, add to the yogurt and vegetable mixture, and lightly mix with a spoon. 

7. Garnish with the remaining spice mixture. Add zeera to the top. 

7. Ready to serve!

'Ishqiya': Disappointing or Revolutionary?

  #TSEDramaReview! Spoiler alert!   So let's talk about Ishqiya, a Pakistani drama that aired its concluding (double-episode) episode on the 10th of August, 2020.
