TSE’s Movie in Review: What's Love Got to Do with It?

©The Sanniah Experience! (TSE) Exploring marriages from interracial to interfaith in the rom-com diaspora of the modern-day British-Pakistani identity. Jemima Khan’s massively promoted 2022 British rom-com directed by Shekhar Kapur, What’s Love Got to Do it? stars Lily James, Shazad Latif, Shabana Azmi, Emma Thompson, Sajal Aly, and many others with a surprise cameo of Pakistan’s beloved musical genius, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. Dealing with issues of arranged marriage in the modern age coining the term ‘Love Contractually’, the movie has a promising start and a hopeful future preaching to the youth to stop pretending in unhappy or ‘insisted marriages’ as the male lead portrayed by Shazad Latif says to his parents. On the surface, the film deals with protagonist Kazim Khan’s journey from deciding to look for a bride to actually marrying a young Pakistani Muslim girl with whom he shares a sense of compatibility. ©The Sanniah Experience! Health Insurance in Pakistan: The essentials of getting insured

©The Sanniah Experience! (TSE) By Sanniah Hassan Maintaining good mental and physical health is a substantial part of optimal healthcare, access to which should be an essential concern of those in power, and although, a system to ensure the provision of basic amenities should be at the helm of any good governance, it usually is not.  There can be various reasons behind this, but most commonly this is determined by the GDP and HDI of any developing country. For countries like ours, generally considered to be "least" developed, decisions such as healthcare are predominantly made on the basis of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita and the Human Development Index (HDI). However, this is a step that can only be taken when the state leadership is focused on progress in the right direction. Although Pakistan is not among the "least" developed countries according to the World Population Review website , yet, we too are lacking a potent system to sustain facilities f...

'Ishqiya': Disappointing or Revolutionary?

#TSEDramaReview! Spoiler alert!   So let's talk about Ishqiya, a Pakistani drama that aired its concluding (double-episode) episode on the 10th of August, 2020. Although we had doubts about it in the beginning, the last episode was really well presented. From going full-circle in addressing all that needed to be highlighted, the ending was truly satisfying. Firstly. Hamza & Hamna though both deserving of the dangerous repercussions accepted their follies and mistakes yet, there was one thing that set them apart. Having gone through the sequence of events Hamna finally learnt that she will have to be patient in working towards redemption while Hamza stayed stuck in the 'fight for love' dilemma. There is a scene in this episode that really resonated with us and that was when Hamza's friend tells him to show restraint and questions his irrational attitude when he says, why do always have to bring in a fight? Why do you always have to talk about a fight? Secondly. We ...

#BlackLivesMatter, Rowling & Global Perspective

Perfectly put by J K Rowling! The British author, most renowned for the enchanting Harry Potter series, believes that the world needs to change. In a tweet on her official Twitter account, Rowling wrote, "All I know is that the world has to change. Power structures have to change. White people have to change. #BlackLivesMatter." ... and all we can add to this is that, #AllLivesMatter. Be kind to one another because one good deed goes a long way. . . . Where are we headed?: Need for #BlackoutDay & Extra-marital affairs

So, 2020 is really turning out to be the worst year ever. Considering the global community is tackling a pandemic, while individual countries are facing multiple issues associated with the pandemic and otherwise. As the black community tries to regain its collective and individual power from the #WhiteMan, across United States, we are reminded of the beauty behind Islam which advocates that no man is superior to another on the basis of colour, and that killing all of humanity. Simultaneously, Pakistan is going through its own series of troubles... from the elite putting their dirty laundry on display for the world, to financial troubles, we cannot help but think that two wrongs can never make a right! If a married man cheats on his wife, with another woman, he is equally responsible for the affair and must be dealt with accordingly. In our opinion, the following arguments need to be considered, before passing any judgement or picking any side: 1. The man/woman who cheats is wrong and m...

#Throwback: A Day in the life, pre-COVID

A day in the life pre-COVID, is a lesson on its own, a reminder of how ungrateful mankind can be. We fail to cherish things, people and experiences as we live them yet, reminisce on the beauty of them when we cannot have them any longer. As we learn to combat COVID-19 as a global community, how about we also learn to rework our priorities in ways that benefit not only our physical but also our mental and emotional health? Let's vow to be kinder to each other, more present in compoany of others and actively engaging in our relationships... and just maybe, we can step positively into the world post-Coronavirus. #LetsKeepTheHopeAlive! . . . TSE! Quote of the Day: Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.)

© The Sanniah Experience! (TSE) Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.) is without a doubt, the best example for not just the Muslim Ummah but, for mankind in general. Known for his positive attributes, Hazrat Muhammad (S.A.W.) led his life by exemplary conduct befitting of a true believer. Apart from the Holy Qur'an, it is his life, that should be followed by Muslims aspiring to attain closure to Allah Almighty. May Allah help us and guide us to the path of righteousness, so that we may implement the teachings of the Qur'an and the Prophet (S.A.W.) in our daily lives. Ameen sum-Ameen. . . . Genocide Suits NO Cause!

© The Sanniah Experience! (TSE) By Fatima Zubair Writer of  A Child of the New  Millennium And the world went mum. Horrified, disgusted and scared. Silenced. In silent spectator hood The silent majority Trudged. Seeing the uproarious minority Beaten, killed and stifled out of existence. But there were promises to keep Secrets to hide Some plans to conceal And all was wearing thin Time was running out Humanity was trampled Little by little It died each day- Making way For more blood In its offing. Revenge and  Retaliation.  For murder cures no ill Genocide suits no cause. Share your thoughts with us in the comments down below or connect with us at:

Quote of the Day: Commemorating Quaid-e-Azam

An Original piece by The Sanniah Experience! The video is up on YouTube. The link is attached at the bottom of this piece.  © The Sanniah Experience! (TSE) Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah or the Father of the Nation for Pakistan was born to a Karachi-based family in the 1860s. A lawyer by profession, the Quaid perhaps knew full well the need for a separate homeland for the Muslims of the sub-continent. "Think hundred times before you take a decision, but once that decision is taken, stand by it as one man." Quaid-e-Azam, Muhammad Ali Jinnah Quaid-e-Azam, and his younger sister, Mohtarma Fatima Ali Jinnah, have contributed greatly towards the inception and Partition of Pakistan, literally meaning, the land of the pure.  The Quaid was wiser for his time since he rightfully pointed out the need for and deep-seated existence of the "Two Nation Theory" which clearly stated that Muslims and Hindus were not just two religions, they were actually...

I wish we could be more!

© The Sanniah Experience! (TSE) By Fatima Zubair Writer of  A Child of the New  Millennium ''I am only one Of the many Shell shocked Dwellers. And nothing more! I wake up each day To hear the uproar Of killings Murders Massacre. And nothing more! What was just ripped Snuffed, and  Bedimmed: Was a humanity A population A people. A species so weightless- Made only more so! And nothing more. I wake up each day  To learn to succumb- because I too Am hamstrung. Hamstrung In the face of a dark,  Dark scourge Of violence Brutality Inhumanity. For I am, but A silent spectator! Just 'Leaning together' Letting go... And nothing more. But aren't we all, A froth? A lather on the sea And nothing more '...filled with straw' Weightless upon decree. Inconsequential, to the extreme? I wish we could be more!'' Share your thoughts with us in the commen...
