No Shore in Sight (Pakistan’s Poetic Flood of Loss)

Original Poem by Sanniah Hassan Content warning: mentions of death, climate disaster, and displacement. Note:  This poem reflects on the devastating floods that have swept through Pakistan, capturing the grief, loss, and helplessness experienced by survivors and witnesses. It is a call to remember those affected and to reckon with the realities of climate change. One moment all was clear, The next I couldn’t breathe.   As the noise blared through the TV One dead, dozens wounded –   Its noise ringing in my ears.   The water came at once, they said, No end in sight.   Uprooting trees, drowning cattle, Displacing families – Leaving not a soul about.   The police cars blared their sirens Visiting neighbourhoods sounding alarm Cautioning people to stay inside Lest they lose their lives.   The damage had been done – Life in shambles across villages Hope drowned with the current   My people bled. Their te...

From the River to the Sea — A Gaza Lament

Original Poem by Sanniah Hassan © The Sanniah Experience! (TSE)  Content Warning: war, violence, and themes of ongoing genocide. Note:  This piece is a personal lament for Gaza—an expression of grief, solidarity, and the aching hope for freedom. It reflects the anguish of witnessing ongoing suffering from afar while holding fast to a vision of peace and dignity for the people of Palestine. I see their tears. I hear their cries. I witness their suffering – and through it all die a little inside. My peace is gone, I feel helpless each day. I lose my hope a little bit, Every day, never once at all.   I pray for their freedom.  I wish for a time, when Gaza’s skies  are clear as noon.   I chant in my dreams the slogan of freedom I shout from my lungs  –  “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free!”   Though the future seems distant, I keep Gaza in my prayers,  as I strive for its people in my breath. ...

Noor Mukadam Case: Battling 'Desensitization' created by Negative elements & Media Portraiture

©The Sanniah Experience! (TSE) By Sanniah Hassan  In a shocking and heartbreaking turn of events, media reports confirmed the brutal killing of twenty-seven-year-old Noor Mukadam, daughter of former Ambassador Mr. Shaukat Mukadam on the 20th of July last year.  Based on initial reports, the young woman was brutally 'beheaded' after being sexually abused by someone considered to be a friend. An investigation into the case by the Islamabad police led to a confessional by the cold-blooded murderer, the son of an influential business tycoon, Zahir Jaffer.  The news sent shockwaves across the country with many questioning how such an incident was possible. The vibrant young woman's life had been cut short by this monster who pledged that he was a lover 'scorned'.  After being taken into police custody Jaffer and his family knit tales of woe claiming he had proposed marriage and she had rejected, so in a moment of deep self-pity he had resorted to killing her. In doing so...

Gaza Couldn't Survive

By Fatima Zubair Writer of  The Child of a New Millenium 'Have you heard the sound, Of a warning alarm, Screeching through  A deafening Calm? Have you seen a struggle, To collect, Recollect A household, Uninformed? A broken glass, One silent blast. Only the dregs of concrete, Last. Have you heard the cries, A screaming In the vault? Have you seen a city, Painted in mahogany? Of Homeless tags, In Nameless rags! If you haven't seen humanity, Such a humanity, An entire generation wiped, Then look again! It's in Gaza, That Gaza couldn't survive. Gaza couldn't survive!' You can connect with us at thesanniahexperience@gmail.com or contact us via:

Let's Talk about Mental Health & Why is it Important?

©The Sanniah Experience! (TSE) Why talking about mental health is important?  Well, for one, brushing uncomfortable truths under the rug help no one, and two, stable mental health like physical well-being is extremely important for healthy living. We have often heard the saying: Live and Let Live! yet, very few understand this and implement it in their day-to-day lives. So today, let's talk about the how's and the why's of the situation.  You see, when people offer unsolicited advice in the form of options and anecdotes (mostly unnecessarily), it almost always contributes to putting down those in need of help or motivation. So instead of offering our 'helpful suggestions' why not lend a 'listening-ear'?  Allow them the opportunity and safe space and let them express what they may be going through, what they may be troubled by, and perhaps along the way guide them towards a potent solution to their problem! Most examples where a person may be suffering from m...
